Nickos HARIZANOS

Nickos HARIZANOS was born in Athens. He studied Composition, Orchestration, 
Harmony and Counterpoint in Athens under the supervision of the Professors Christos Lambrianidis and Spyros Klapsis from 1992 to 1999. He then continued his studies in Composition at Manchester University (2000-2001) with Professor John Casken and ProfessorGeoffrey Poole, graduating with a research Master’s degree (MMus) in Composition. In 2014 started his PhD studies in Composition at Bangor University (UK) under the supervision of Professor Andrew Lewis.
His music has been performed in the U.S.A., Australia, Canada, China, U.K., Russia, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Morroco, Germany, Luxembourg, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Poland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Latvia, Ukraine, Croatia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Albania, Lithuania, Hungary, Romania, Serbia,  Cyprus, Greece.

He has received a number of prizes and distinctions at International and National Composers Competitions (Hochschule fur Musik und Theatre Munchen, IVME, Boston Metro Opera, International Music Prizes, Carl von Ossietzky, University of Utah New Music Ensemble, London Chamber Players, V.Zolotarev, Foudoulis Concervatory). 
His music has been broadcasted by Greek National TV and Radio Stations along with International TV stations (Spain) and Radio stations in Spain (National Radio of Spain (RNE) and Mexico) along with private stations in USA, Portugal, Czech Republic, Colombia). He also has composed music for theatre and documentaries in Greece and UK. Published works are located at many libraries such as National Library of Germany, Schumann Library (Germany), Columbia University (USA), Royal Academy of Music (UK), Lilian Voudouri (Greece).

He is the General Secretary of the Contemporary Music Research Centre (KSYME) (founded by Iannis Xenakis) (Greece) and Director - member of KSYMEnsemble. He is also member of  the Greek Composers Union (GCU) and the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association (HELMCA) (Greece). As a Professor of Composition and Advanced Theoritical Studies of Music, he's been teaching at En Organis Conservatory in Athens, Greece since 2008, Corelli Conservatory in Rhodes (2001 - 2003 and 2016 onwards) and he's been also teaching Stage Music at Prova School of Drama Studies in Athens, Greece since 2005.
